Most shingles come with a built in fungicide to prevent this growth after 8-10 years the fungicide stops working and the black algae starts eating the shingles.
We treat the algae with a soft-wash chemical process. No walking on the slope, no pressure on the shingles, no granule loss, no risk to a manufacturer’s warranty. The cleaning solution neutralizes the colony at the source. The first wash takes off the bulk of the staining; the rest flushes out with the next two rainfalls. Visible streaking is gone inside a week to ten days.
